What good is being in the cybernetic age, with your own brand spanking no-so new laptop, without your own (non-MySpace) blog? Here’s how you’ll get your own blog, get started posting, and get it linked up at the Fatherblog.
1) Go to edublogs.org and click Sign-up Here. Next, choose a Username (I’ll give you the protocol), Blog title (last name + class blog–for example Smith’s 10th grade English blog), give them your email address, and click “next.” If you are unsure about using your own email address, try using a temporary email address like dodgit.com. The biggest issue is that your username has to be unique because your URL will be based on it.
2) Go to your email (or the dodgit email) and follow the instructions for logging in. It will give you a link and a password. Write down the password and highlight copy it for double security. You’ll be able to change the password later.
3) Once you are in, click the profile button at the top right of the screen and change your password to one you will not forget. You can write the password down on a sticky or make it the name of your dog or little brother.
4) Next, email me (nathan.stearns@shorelineschools.og) your URL; you can just forward me the email you just got from learnerblogs.
5) Click Write at the top of your page and write your first post. Maybe something like what you think of this Matrix of blogs, technology, and connection.
6) If all fails, I have a few blogs I’ve set up for contingencies and we might try the folks at Blogger or Weebly if edublogs fails us.
