We’ll start with some questions about Act I in Raisin to get our brains thinking about what happened in the play. After we answer them, we’ll try and talk a bit about the characters and why they do what they do.
Next, our peer coach from Seattle U will lead you in a drama-like activity which asks you to imagine some of the moral decisions that occur and how events would change had they decided differently.
Then, individually, I’ll ask you to write a 200-300 words response to the following question:
Choose 3 of the characters in Raisin and for each character decide on one adjective that describes what you think about them. Then, explain why you think that each character deserves that adjective by giving an example of something he/she does and why that action merits that adjective. Include one short quote per character.
Post your short responses here. Make sure you cut and paste it in the Note box and title it with your name.
Finally, we’ll see Sidney Poitier do the last scene in Raisin and we’ll discuss the differences between his acting and P.Diddy’s.
