Then, I want you to look at your 5 sources and choose 1 to present.  You can use a few PP slids or just Word, but share with us.  We’ll talk about the assignment and explore where to go next.

Then, we’ll talk about moths.  First, Virginia Woolf’s Death of a Moth and these questions.

1. What is the setting and why is it important to the essay?
2. How would you describe the speaker’s attitude at the end of paragraph 2?
3. What is the meaning of the sentence: “He was little or nothing but life?”
4. Why does the speaker lay down the pencil at the end of paragraph 4?
5. How do you interpret this sentence: “Again, somehow, one saw life, a pure bead?”
6. What examples of sensory detail do you see? Quote them and comment.
7. Woolf does not explicitly state a thesis, but what would it be?
8. What is the speaker’s overall attitude towards death in this piece? Why do you think so?

Finally, please read this piece also about spiders and wasps.  Please write a 100-200 response comparing the two pieces in terms of tone, purpose, and attitude towards death.

HW:  Write a day-in-the-life story (1-2 pages) inspired by the research coming from your research.  Also, continue your research and start to map out an outline by next Friday.
