I am not feeling so well

Hey kids,

I’ve got a horrible cold so I won’t be able to be there this morning.  Or look at your personal essays. Here’s the plan for the day.

First, read Malcolm X’s Learning to Read in 50 essays and write up a short reaction (200 words or so) that discusses how Malcolm creates a persona in his narrative and compare/contrast it with Frederick Douglass’s essay.

Next, re-acquaint yourself with the logos, ethos, and pathos. We’ll use these distinctions when we study Martin Luther King’s Letter from a Birmingham Jail.

For homework, please read the first half of  Letter from a Birmingham Jail and categorize at least 3 of the arguments according to logos, ethos, pathos.
